Into those Numbers Again

In studying our Hebrew letters, we can see a lot of “number pictures.” We know the letter Hei has a numerical value of five. This symbolizes the four elements (air, water, fire, and earth) and the central representing a fifth element, an electromagnetic force that gives energy to the other elements. If you put a yod (Hebrew letter) and a dalet (another Hebrew letter) together, you get the word for hand. This gives you the concept that this world was created with the letter Hei and by his hand (Yod-Dalet). The numerical value of yod- dalet is 14, which hints at the fourteen joints of each hand. They’re three joints on each finger and two on the thumb.

So each number value for the two hands would be 14 and 14, which is twenty- eight. That happens to be the number value for the word “strength.” That’s not to mention that the first verse of Genesis consists of twenty-eight letters. It contains 7 words, which correspond to the seven days of creation. The first three words contain 14 letters, and the remaining 4 words also has fourteen letters. So here we have each hand’s number value again. The verse that immediately precedes the Ten Commandments also consists of seven words and twenty- eight letters. The first four words here contain 14 letters, and the remaining 3 words have 14 letters.

The Ten Commandments (also called the Ten Words) were written on 2 tablets, 5 commandments on each. This too is a picture of the two hands with the 5 fingers on each hand. There are 5 books in the Torah and 5 parts of the mouth that participate in making the sounds of speech (throat, palate, teeth, tongue, and mouth). The very first word of the Torah is pronounced with all these 5 parts of the mouth, showing the power of speech is the basis of all creation. When we look at the Menorah in the temple, you can see how it can represent the human face. The two outer branches on the far left and far right correspond to the ears. The next two inner branches correspond to the eyes. The next two are the nostrils. The central one is the mouth. This shows the importance of the power of speech to the health of the body. It also shows how you could find endless jewels in the Hebrew letters and getting into those numbers more. But, all of the above is based on the Hebrew text, you can’t do this with the English.
