Biblical
truth reveals that all light
is birthed through darkness
and that salvation comes
when the light of the truth
pierces our dark hearts.
The reason the word “light”
(“Or” in Hebrew) appears
five times on the first
day of creation is because
it represents the five books
of Torah that give us light
and life. Additionally,
this is why in B’resheet
(Gen
1:4) “THE LIGHT”
has a number value of 613,
hinting at the number of
commandments in the Torah.
The first verse of B’resheet
in Hebrew contains seven
words, five of them about
creation and two of them
about the Eternal One, Alef
- Tav. Everything works
on the concept of darkness
first then light. Even the
human eye has a black spot
called the retina, but light
has to pass through this
dark spot first before you
can see.
The
“light” of the weekly Sabbath
begins at “sundown” not
sun up. The human is formed
inside of his mother’s dark
womb. Trials and difficulties
also mark the beginnings
of darkness, but there is
always the light of salvation
to look forward to. We can
look forward to the light
even as the Israelites who
were brought out of Egypt
at night came into the light
(Deu
16:1). Also the light
of the moon begins it’s
monthly cycle in darkness,
emerging once again each
month as light. Each day
the sun rises from darkness
into the giving of the daily
light for us. Then “The
Light” Yeshua, emerges out
of the dark line of David.
David on his maternal side
was a descendent of Ruth,
who was a descendent of
Lot. Then David on his paternal
side, came into being as
a result of Judah lying
with his daughter-law Tamar
(darkness), who gave birth
to Perez (light).
Light
cannot exist along with
darkness, it has to be an
either or situation. We
are told as believers not
to mix with darkness. The
darkness will try to creep
in and extinguish your light
if you allow it. It is said
in the Zohar (famous O.T.
commentary) that everywhere
the Torah is studied at
night one thread-thin ray
appears from the Eternal
Light and flows down upon
those who are absorbed in
her. May that Eternal Light
of YHVH be in and on us
now and forever more!
